LEXINGTON, KY (April 27, 2012) – Keeneland’s 2012 spring race meeting proved to be an enormously successful finale for President Nick Nicholson, posting several records for attendance and wagering and boasting field sizes that are among the largest in the country. More importantly, it also marked the sixth consecutive spring meeting in which there were no catastrophic breakdowns during racing on Keeneland’s all-weather main track.

Point of Entry Wins Elkhorn on Closing Day of Keeneland Spring Meet

LEXINGTON, KY (April 27, 2012) – Point of Entry, who won a 1½-mile allowance race on the Keeneland turf course on April 12, proved his liking for the distance and the surface when he won the 27th running of the $150,000 Elkhorn (G2) before a crowd of 17,383 on Friday, closing day of Keeneland’s 15-day spring meet. The victory marked the first stakes win for the 4-year-old colt by Dynaformer, a homebred racing for Phipps Stable.

ATTFIELD BIDS TO KEEP GOING IN ELKHORN

 

This week already has been a good one for trainer Roger Attfield. On Monday, the announcement was made that he had been selected for induction into the Racing Hall of Fame for his career achievements, which include many notable moments at Keeneland.
